"Rajkummar Rao to play lead role in biopic, but there are issues.... ", says Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly Biopic: Former Team India skipper and ex-BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly recently shared an update about his most-anticipated biopic. He revealed that Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao will step into his shoes for the film.

While speaking to the media in West Bengal’s Bardhaman on Thursday, the ‘Prince of Kolkata’ said, “From what I’ve heard, Rajkummar Rao will play the role (the titular role)…but there are issues of dates…so it will take more than a year to hit the screens.”

The biopic aims to capture Ganguly's journey from being the Indian captain to becoming the BCCI president. It's expected to be a cinematic masterpiece, showcasing the triumphs and tribulations of Ganguly's life, both on and off the cricket field.

Rajkummar Rao has several upcoming projects in the pipeline. He will reunite with Dinesh Vijan for ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’, a quirky time-loop film, co-starring Wamiqa Gabbi. The teaser of the film was unveiled a few days ago. Directed by Karan Sharma, it releases on April 10, 2025.
