COVID-19: India logs 1,421 cases, 149 deaths in past 24 hours

New Delhi: India registered 1,421 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 4,30,19 453, as per the Health Ministry data on Sunday.
As many as 149 fresh fatalities were also recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the total death count in the country due to Novel Coronavirus to 5,21004.
The active cases stand at 16,187, which now comprise 0.04 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has decreased to 98.75 per cent.
Meanwhile, 1826 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries to 4,24,82,262.
On vaccination front, the government has been continuously speeding up the vaccination drive across the country.
According to a bulletin issued by the Ministry on Sunday, 78.63 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 6,20,251 tests have been conducted. "India has administered 183.20 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive," said the Ministry data.
More than 184.47 crore more vaccine doses have been provided to the States and Union Territories (UTs) so far.
Over 16.18 crore balance and unutilised Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States and UTs to be administered, it added. (UNI)
