COVID-19: India logs 2,503 new cases, lowest since May 2020

New Delhi: India has registered 2,503 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of cases to 4,29,93,494 in the country, as per the Health Ministry data on Monday.
As many as 27 fresh fatalities were also recorded in the past 24 hours, taking the total death count in the country, as a result of coronavirus, to 5,15,877.
The active cases stand at 36,168 which now comprise 0.08 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has decreased to 98.72 per cent.
Meanwhile, 4,377 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries 4,24,41,449.
On the vaccination front, the government has been continuously speeding up the vaccination drive across the country.
According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry on Monday, 77.90 Crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far. In the last 24 hours, a total of 5,32,232 tests have been conducted.
“India has administered 180.19 doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive,” Ministry data said.
More than 182.79 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far.
Over 17.38 Cr balance and unutilized Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, the ministry said. (UNI)
