COVID-19: India registers 7,447 new cases, 391 deaths in last 24 hours

New Delhi: India reported 7,447 new COVID-19 cases and 391 related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking death toll to 4,76,8 69 in the country according to the Union Health Ministry’s data on Friday.
Meanwhile, the number of active COVID-19 cases have declined to 86,415 the lowest in 562 days, which presently constituted 0.25 percent, lowest since March 2020, Ministry’s data said.
The recovery rate in the country touched 98. 38 percent as 7,886 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tally of recoveries to 3,41,62,765.
“The daily positivity rate is 0.59 per cent, which is less than 2 per cent for the last 74 days, whereas the weekly positivity rate is 0.63 per cent which also remains less than 1 per cent for the last 33 days now,” the Ministry reported.
The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. India has so far conducted over 66.15 Crore tests across the country.
With the further administration of 70,46,805 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 135.99 Cr the Ministry said.
“More than 142.73 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through direct state procurement category.
More than 16.66 Crore balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs,” said the Ministry. (UNI)
