COVID 4th wave scare: India records 4,270 new cases in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: India reported 4,270 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of cases to 4,31,76,817, Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.
As many as 15 fresh fatalities were also recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the death count in the country to 52,4692.
The active cases stand at 24,052 which now comprise 0.06 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 98.73 per cent.
Meanwhile, 2,619 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries to 4,26,28073.
According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry on Sunday, 85.26 Crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 4,13,699 tests have been conducted.
On the vaccination front, the government has been continuously speeding up the vaccination drive across the country.
"India has administered 194.09 Cr doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive," according to the Ministry's data.
More than 193.53 Crore more vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far.
Over 14.81 crore balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs, the ministry said. (UNI)
