Hyderabad: Ministers offer silk clothes to Goddesses as Bonalu celebrations continue

Hyderabad: As part of the ongoing Ashada Bonalu festival, Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu on Sunday offered silk clothes to Goddess Sri Mahankali at the historic Sri Akkanna Madanna Temple in Haribowli on behalf of the state government and performed special pujas.

Extending festive greetings, Sridhar Babu said Bonalu is not just a festival but a powerful expression of Telangana’s cultural heritage and collective spirit. “Bonalu reflects our identity, unity, and the deep devotion that runs through our history,” he said.

The Minister added that the government has released Rs 20 crore for Bonalu celebrations in Hyderabad, supporting 2,783 temples in the city.

He assured that the Revanth Reddy-led government is committed to upholding the traditions and spiritual sentiments of the people and will continue to support cultural heritage in every way.

Meanwhile, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, along with Hyderabad In-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, offered silk robes and performed special pujas at the Charminar Bhagyalakshmi temple.

“May all the people be prosperous and happy. Bonalu is a festival that echoes across the world and puts Telangana’s traditions on the global map,” Komatireddy said.

He also stated that the government is focused on ensuring metro connectivity to the Old City and promoting development with the blessings of the Goddess.
