Shardiya Navratri has begun this year from Monday, September 22, to October 1, 2025. During these nine days, devotees worship Goddess Durga with great devotion. Many recite the Durga Chalisa daily, while others chant the Durga Saptashati. According to scriptures, there are special rules for reciting the Durga Chalisa, and following them is believed to bring the full blessings of the Goddess.
Rules for Reciting Durga Chalisa During Navratri
1. Beginning the Recitation
-
Wake up early, bathe, and wear clean clothes before starting the recitation.
-
If possible, add a few drops of Ganga water to your bath or purify yourself with it.
2. Setting Up the Place of Worship
-
For those doing an uninterrupted nine-day recitation (Akhand path), chant at the same time and in the same place daily.
-
On the ninth day, perform a havan (sacred fire ritual) and offer food to young girls (Kanya Pujan).
Reciting the Durga Chalisa with discipline and devotion during Navratri is believed to remove all obstacles, bring peace and prosperity, and grant the special blessings of Goddess Durga.
