Mumbai: Former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) after more than 13 hours of interrogation in connection with a money laundering case, sources said on Tuesday.
After skipping five summons issued by the agency, he appeared before it around 12 am on Monday. According to the sources, he was not cooperating and being evasive in his replies to the agency. He was arrested around 1.30 am.
He stepped down as state home minister in April this year after former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh levelled corruption allegations against him.
On Friday, Deshmukh moved the Bombay High Court seeking to quash the ED summons. The HC had refused to quash the summons and directed him to appear before the agency. (UNI)
