New Delhi: Mumbai Zonal Director of Narcotics Control Bureau, Sameer Wankhede on Monday met Vijay Sampla, Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes here, to present his original caste documents.

Wankhede has been leading the probe into the cruise drugs case, in which actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was arrested on October 3. Aryan is currently out on bail. Wankhede had visited the NCB headquarters in the national capital last week, amid the controversy surrounding him in relation to the investigation.

The NCB had last week conducted a vigilance inquiry into the claim made by a witness related to extortion bid of Rs 25 crore made to some NCB officials, including Wankhede, for releasing Aryan.

The five-member team of NCB, led by Deputy Director General Gyaneshwar Singh, had visited Mumbai on Wednesday to hold a vigilance inquiry into the claim of bribe.

Maharashtra Minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik had accused Wankhede of producing a fake caste certificate and other forged documents to secure job as IRS officer under the SC quota after clearing the UPSC examination. Malik further alleged that Wankhede was a Muslim by birth.

On Sunday, Arun Halder, Vice-Chairman of the NCSC, had come out in Wankhede's support, saying that the officer was doing good work and making his department proud, but a Minister has launched a personal attack against him and his family members. Halder also visited Wankhede's residence in Mumbai. (UNI)
