"Fearless guardian of democracy", Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi remember Jawaharlal Nehru on his 61st death anniversary

New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday paid tributes to former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his 61st death anniversary and described him as a "fearless guardian of democracy".

Meanwhile, former Congress president Sonia Gandhi paid tribute to the first Prime Minister of India at Shanti Van here.

Kharge on his social media handle X said, "A humble tribute on the death anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru — the architect of modern India, the fearless guardian of democracy, the one who led India from zero to great heights, and who played a pivotal role in making the country progressive in scientific, economic, industrial, and many other fields."



"He constantly promoted the message of "Unity in Diversity" and remains an enduring source of inspiration for us all. It is impossible to imagine 21st-century India without the contributions of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru," the Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition said.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi, while paying tribute to Nehru, said, "With a vision of a strong and inclusive India, Nehru Ji laid the firm foundation of independent India through his farsighted leadership. His invaluable contributions to the establishment of social justice, modernity, education, the Constitution, and democracy are deeply cherished."



"The legacy and ideals of the “Jewel of India” will continue to guide us always," the Raebareli MP said.
