Former Dawood associate Ejaz Lakdawala arrested by Mumbai cops from Patna

Mumbai: Gangster Ejaz Lakdawala, onetime associate of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim, has been arrested from Patna by Mumbai Police.He has been remanded to police custody till January 21, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Santosh Rastogi told reporters here.
Lakdawala was also associated with Chhota Rajan gang, he said."He used to be part of the Dawood Ibrahim gang under Chhota Rajan. When Rajan separated from Dawood, Lakdawala stuck to Chhota Rajan and somewhere around 2008-09, he became independent," he said.
 
"So it is likely that we may get some important inputs about the original gang....," he said.Lakdawala's arrest comes days after his daughter Sonia Shaikh was  held at Mumbai airport when attempting to flee abroad on a fake passport.Lakdawala's detention follows the arrest of his daughter Sonia Shaikh at Mumbai airport while attempting to flee abroad on a fake passport.
 
Senior Mumbai police officials said the gangster has traveled widely into various places and countries, including Canada, London, Malaysia, US and Nepal."All these investigations will be confirmed during investigation...,"  he said.Mr Rastogi said, the gangster's daughter, who was in police custody gave a lot of information. 
 
"Our sources also told us about his arrival in Patna, he was arrested in Jattanpur police station area," he said.Lakdawala was on the run for the last 20 years.He was wanted in 27 cases, including 25 of them in Mumbai.(UNI)
