Former MP CM Digvijay Singh in troubled waters after vowing to scrap Art 370 before Pak journos during Clubhouse chat

Bhopal: It is anything but a quiet weekend in Madhya Pradesh’s political sphere, which on Saturday witnessed a saffron camp broadside against the Congress in the wake of erstwhile chief minister Digvijaya Singh’s “statement” regarding abrogation of Article 370.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan led the blistering counteroffensive and was seconded by Bharatiya Janata Party state President VD Sharma and Rajya Sabha Member Jyotiraditya Scindia.

“Congress leaders speak the language of Pakistan! Party President Sonia Gandhi ought to make the Congress’ stand clear over the issue. Does she concur with Mr Singh? Her silence shall be construed as concurrence. Will the Congress actually reconsider the Article 370-related decision if it ever assumes the nation’s reins again? Does the party favour keeping Jammu and Kashmir separate from the rest of the Indian Union?

We are aware that Mr Singh is pained by the revocation but the country stands behind Premier Narendra Modi. Does Mr Singh desire that Jammu and Kashmir do not develop and progress? Does he wish that separatism is fomented? It is often observed that Mr Singh’s words are echoes of Pakistani leaders.

He is habituated to supporting anti-national forces, has always adopted the politics of appeasement and can go to any extent for making headlines,” Mr Chouhan conveyed via social media.

Goa CM condemns Digvijay Singh's statement on Article 370

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant condemned the statement of Congress leader Digvijay Singh to reconsider abrogation of Article 370 if Congress came to power.

In a tweet, he said the statement was extremely provocative and against national integrity which aligns with anti-national forces and was in agreement with Pakistan.

Pro-Pak Cong leaders a threat to nation: Chugh

BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh who is also incharge of the party in J&K, slammed Congress leader Digvijay Singh for his comments on Article 370 and said that he was living in a fool's paradise.

Chugh said that abolition of Article 370 hss brought new hope and optimism to the people. "The Congress has been always daydreaming about such issues and has been losing state after state in the country.

He said such leaders are dancing to the tune of Pakistan and are threat to the nation.

"People of the J&K are happy with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's welfare and constructive schemes. A new chapter has been written in J&K and people are seeing hope in it, " he said.

He said the Congress and other parties have been fooling people in J&K. " A new era has arrived and pro-Pakistan people in the Congress like Digvijay Singh are getting upset, " Chugh added.

Farooq welcomes Digvijay’s statement on Art 370, says J&K did not merge with India

Welcoming the statement of senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh about abrogation of Article 370 by the BJP-led central Government, former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah on Saturday claimed that Jammu and Kashmir did not merge with Union of India but joined on certain terms in 1947.

“ I am very grateful to Digvijaya Singh who has realised the sentiments of people as other parties who have also spoken about it” president of the National Conference (NC) Dr Abdullah said.

I welcome it heartily and hope central government will look into it again, said Dr Abdullah who is also Member of Parliament (MP) from Srinagar constituency on Singh's remark during a Clubhouse chat.

Former union minister Dr Abdullah said the state did not merge but joined Union of India on certain terms and one of the terms was 370.

He said Supreme Court (SC) twice gave two verdicts which clearly stated that this (article 370) is a permanent feature.

However, he said there is a political party in power in Delhi which has a long stand to abrogate Article 370. But, the former CM said this is not stand of the people of the nation but a party (BJP). BJP wanted it and they abrogated it against the wishes of people of all the three regions—Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh.

People of all the three regions opposed it and we will continue to oppose against what they (BJP) have done.(UNI)
