India logs 2.35 lakh fresh Covid cases and 871 deaths

New Delhi: India on Saturday recorded 2.35 lakh fresh Covid-19 cases, while the daily positive rate further declined to 13.39 in the country, as per the Heath Ministry data. As many as 871 fresh Covid fatalities were also recorded, taking the total death count in the country, to 4,93,198.
The active cases currently stand at 20,04,333, which now comprise 4.91 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has decreased to 93.89 per cent. Meanwhile 3,35,939 recoveries were reported increasing the total recoveries to 3,83,60,710 in the country. So far 72.57 Crore tests for Covid-19 have been done with a total of 17,59,434 tests being conducted on Friday.
“India has administered 163.84 doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive”. More than 164.26 crores vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far. Over 12 crores balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, the ministry said. Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases in the capital has remained almost the same, even as the positivity rate dropped further. There were 4,044 fresh cases reported in the capital on Friday' . The positivity rate stood at 8.60 per cent with just 47,042 tests conducted in the city. (UNI)
