Win in Bawana by-election mandate for AAP's clean politics: Kejriwal

New Delhi: Thanking the people of Bawana for reposing faith in the Aam Aadmi Party, its chief Arvind Kejriwal today said the win in by-election was a mandate for AAP's clean politics and developmental works done by it in the last two and half years.
Taking to twitter, Mr Kejriwal said, "Thanks to the people of Bawana for giving mandate on the clean politics and developmental works done by the AAP Government in past two and half years." Earlier, senior leader of the party, Manish Sisodia has also thanked to the people of Bawana for reposing faith in the party and congratulated the party workers.
In a major short in the arm for the AAP following its poor show in the Punjab, Goa Assembly elections and the MCD polls, its candidate Ram Chander today won the Bawana Assembly by-election by defeating its BJP's Ved Prakash by a huge margin of over 24000 votes. The by-election to the Bawana constituency was necessasited following AAP MLA Ved Prakash's resignation.
The voting was held on August 23 and it had recorded 45 per cent voter turnout. During 2015, then AAP candidate Ved Prakash had won the seat by a margin of 50557 votes. Mr Prakash got 108928 votes as against BJP's candidate Gugan Singh 58371. This time the party has retained the seat by winning it by over 24000 votes. (UNI)
