Palakkad: A murder accused, released on bail, hacked to death two more members of the same family, after trespassing into their house at Pothundi near Nenmara, as part of revenge on Monday.

Police identified the deceased as Sudhakaran (58) and his mother Lakshmi (76), residing in Boyan colony at Pothundi.

The accused Chenthamara (58) of Pothundi fled the scene and a search operation was going on to nab him.

Police said Sudhakaran died on the spot and the body was kept at his house. Nenmara Government hospital sources said Lakshmi was brought dead to the Hospital.

Chenthamara, who was a remand prisoner at Viyyur central jail, in connection with the hacking to death of Sudhakaran's wife Sajitha in 2019.

He was released on bail, three months back and the trial of the Sajitha murder case was scheduled to begin on February 15.

Sudhakaran and Sajitha have two children and one of the daughter's marriages was over. Chenthamara had issued life threats to Sudhakaran's family earlier, following the complaint of Sudhakaran, police had filed a plea before the Court to cancel the bail.

The residents have been protesting against shifting Sudhakaran's body for post-mortem, demanding the intervention of the District Collector to take action against the accused.

Chenthamara's wife was separated from him. Suspecting Sajitha's family was behind it, the accused might have committed the double murder, of some suspects.

On January 16, 2025 in another case three members of a family were killed and a youth was injured by their neighbour allegedly due to personal enmity between the two families at Chendamangalam near North Paravoor in Ernakulam district.
