Mr Viswam said this while attending the 71st death anniversary of P Krishna Pillai, founder-leader of the Communist movement, at Mararikulam in Alappuzha on Monday.
"The unification of both the parties may not happen today or tomorrow, but it will happen in the near future," he hoped.
Stressing the need for reunification of Left parties to face the challenges from fascist forces, he said the Left parties need an introspection to rework its strategies.
Pointing out that the Left in the country is facing an unprecedented challenge, the CPI leader said marginalisation of the Left will have very serious implication on the future of India.(UNI)
