Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel takes oath as MP Governor

Bhopal: Senior leader Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel was sworn in on Thursday as Madhya Pradesh Governor during a brief yet dignified ceremony at the Sandipani Auditorium within the state capital’s Raj Bhavan.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by High Court Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq.
 
Septuagenarian Mr Patel, who hails from Gujarat and was appointed Governor on Tuesday by President Ram Nath Kovind, arrived here last evening.
 
He has adorned numerous key posts in Gujarat’s Bharatiya Janata Party dispensation including that of Tribal Development Minister.
 
The Raj Bhavan programme – conducted in conformity with novel coronavirus prevention-related protocol – was graced by outgoing Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, his ministerial colleagues, erstwhile chief minister Kamal Nath, other political personages, distinguished jurists, senior bureaucrats and a few eminent citizens from Gujarat. The number of invitees was kept minimal.
 
Uttar Pradesh Governor A Patel was also holding charge of this state.Earlier,Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday extended hearty felicitations to the state’s newly-appointed Governor Mangubhai Patel.
 
“The personage successfully discharged numerous responsibilities including that of central minister. He toiled for years vis-à-vis the noble objective of uplifting tribal society. I am confident that the benefits of his considerable experience in public life will ensure continued progress of Madhya Pradesh,” Mr Chouhan was officially quoted as saying.(UNI)
