Mortal remains of Kalyan Singh reach Aligarh, People rush to pay their tribute at the stadium

Aligarh: The mortal remains of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh reached here on Sunday evening on the last leg of the funeral.
Accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the body landed at the Aligarh airstrip at around 1700 hours and was taken in a procession to the stadium, where it was kept for the last darshan by the people.
People thronged in large number to the stadium to have the last glimpse of the leader, who had worked in Aligarh and nearby areas during his 6 decade long political career.
Several supporters of Kalyan Singh were seen weeping openly. Security personnel had a hard time trying to control the crowd.
Two hours later the body was taken to his native village in Atrauli, where it will be kept for the night.
The cremation will take place at 1500 hours at the Ganga ghat in Norora on Monday.
CM Yogi Adityanath would be staying in Aligarh tonight and will attend the funeral at the Ganga ghat tomorrow.
Kalyan Singh, died after a prolonged illness at SGPGIMS in Lucknow on Saturday night at the age of 89.
Several union ministers and BJP leaders led by Prime minister Narendra Modi paid their floral tributes to the leader at his residence in Lucknow this morning. (UNI)
