No respite for Delhites, maximum temperature likely to hit 43 degrees

New Delhi: There would be no respite for the people of Delhi from the scorching heat as the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 43 degrees celsius on Sunday, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

However, the Weather agency predicted a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of development of thunder and lightning during day time in the city.

The Minimum temperature in the morning settled at 32. 8 degrees, five notches above normal, whereas the relative humidity was recorded at 29 percent at 8:30 hours.

"There will be cloudy weather in Delhi during the weekend but there is less chances of rainfall ' IMD said.

The maximum temperature is set to remain above 40 degrees till June 16, the forecast indicated.

However, with thunderstorms and light rainfall on the cards for June 17, the temperature could drop to around 39 degrees Celsius, offering respite from above normal maximum temperatures in the city.

On Saturday, Safdarjung observatory, Delhi’s base weather station, recorded a maximum temperature of 43.8 degrees Celsius, four degrees above the normal temperature for this time of the year.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 29.7°C, two degrees above normal. (UNI)
