Bhubaneswar: A 15-year-old girl, a 10th class student, was allegedly gang-raped by five persons including one of her close relatives in a village in Odisha’s Kendrapara district.
According to the complaint lodged by the rape survivor, the incident occurred on Raksha Bandhan on August 9. The relative, who had visited the victim’s house, had taken her to a temple in the nearby village on a motorcycle in which she sat behind him.
Later the accused, instead of taking her to destination, took her to a deserted place where she was allegedly raped. The victim’s nightmarish ordeal was prolonged further as four other suspects, who were near the spot, raped her by turn. The crime was pre-planned while the victim did not smell foul play in the ploy devised by the principal accused.
Later the accused left her at the deserted spot with the principal accused, who was a close relative, threatening her of dire consequences is she revealed about the sexual assault inflicted upon her, police said quoting the contents of the First Information Report.
However, the victim later confided the sequence of sexual torture she experienced during the evening hours of the Raksha Bandhan. The complaint was lodged by the victim yesterday evening hours. Police apprehended all the five accused named in the FIR.
They are currently under detention and are being quizzed. A senior police officer said, "The rape survivor besides the alleged accused persons will be medically examined. A case has been registered." Further investigation in the case is underway.
