New Delhi: The personal twitter handle of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was "very briefly compromised", his office said in the wee hours of Sunday.

The account, however, was immediately secured, after it was apprised to the twitter.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said, "The Twitter handle of PM @narendramodi was very briefly compromised. The matter was escalated to Twitter and the account has been immediately secured."

In the brief period that the account was compromised, any tweet shared must be ignored, his office said.
