In a tweet, the Union Ministry said “Second positive case of #nCov has been reported in #Kerala. The patient has a travel history from #China. The patient is in isolation in the hospital, is stable & being closely monitored.”
Reacting to media reports on the second case of novel Coronavirus, Kerala Health Minister K K Shailaja, while speaking to the media in Kollam, she said the case could be confirmed only after getting the reports from National Institute of Virology in Pune.
“We have not received the report from the Virology Institute. The information is that the case is likely positive for Coronavirus infection. The test results are awaited,” she stated.
The patient, a student who came from Wuhan in China on January 24, was stable and under isolation at the Alappuzha Medical College, she informed.
She also urged people coming from China to contact health department and consult hospitals. They should continue in isolation for 28 days, she added.
Following the report, the Health Department called an urgent meeting of the concerned officials.

Ten ambulances were pressed into service to bring people coming from China through various airports in the state. The total number of people under observation rose to 1,793 on Saturday from 1,471 on Friday.
