Suvendu Adhikari alleges TMC goons fired at BJP leader at Bhatpara

Kolkata: Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Legislative Assembly Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday alleged that ruling Trinamool Congress’ goons opened fire at BJP leader Priyangu Pandey's vehicle at Bhatpara, North 24 Parganas, in which the driver of the vehicle was injured.
 
Adhikari, on his X handle, said, "BJP's eminent Leader Priyangu Pandey's vehicle at Bhatpara, (North 24 Parganas). The driver of the vehicle is shot," he said/

 
Reports said tension ran high in the area of former MP Arjun Singh's house at Bhatpara when the BJP and TMC supporters were involved in a scuffle.
 
The situation was very tense as the BJP supporters were on the streets enforcing the shut down the TMC opposed vehemently and took to the streets protesting against the saffron brigade.
 
"Arjun Singh dur hoto," shouted TMC supporters, who alleged Singh and his supporters were forcing closure of a mill at Bhatpara.
 
Singh claimed the bandh was total and successful in the area.
 
BJP's state unit president Sukanta Majumdar, who is also a Union minister of state, said the people have taken to the streets in support of the bandh.
 
"The people have taken to the streets in support of the bandh, expressing their collective outrage against the brutal murder in Bengal of a young doctor. The 'Rail Roko' movement is a clear message — there's no trust left in your administration, CM! #MamataMustResign," Majumdar said in a message on his X handle.

 
Meanwhile, BJP leader Sajal Ghosh was picked up from his Bowbazar house area of Central Kolkata by the police for allegedly enforcing the bandh.
 
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Indrani Mukherjee said Ghosh was taken in a prison van on way to Lalbazar for alleged fomenting trouble in the area.
 
Ghosh's wife Tania Ghosh alleged her husband was only appealing peacefully with folded hands to observe a 12-hour bandh in support of justice for the medic murder.
 
BJP leaders Rupa Ganguly and Agnimitra Paul faced the ire of the TMC supporters while the BJP leaders were appealing to shut down the market at Gariahat More in south Kolkata.
 
BJP president Majumdar and former MP Deboshree Chowdhury were seen at Baguihati in North 24 Parganas where they organised a protest march but the police intervened telling them not to march on the streets in support of the bandh.
