Bhopal:
Amid the scary second wave of COVID19, the new variants of Delta are being registered constantly. After the ministry of home affairs issued the alert for the third wave, the triple variant of Delta Virus has come to the fore in the Datia district of Madhya Pradesh. Nine samples sent to ICMR were identified as the triple variant of Delta.

According to the epidemiologist of Datia District, Manoj Gupta, 15 samples were selected randomly between 1st to 15th May and sent to ICMR, out of which 9 samples have been tested to be the triple variant of Delta plus virus.

In a conversation with Webdunia, Manoj Gupta stated that people who contracted delta plus variant are completely healthy and they are under constant observation.

In order to test which variant of Coronavirus is active in different areas, samples are sent to Delhi located ICMR in a span of every 15 days. This procedure helped in revealing the triple variant of the Delta virus in the Datia district.

The 15 samples collected during the first fortnight of May 9 were found to be the triple variant of Delta Virus. Possibly this variant was the reason behind a sharp increase in the spread of the virus followed by a  surge in the death toll during the second wave.

However, epidemiologist Manoj Gupta said there is no need to panic about the triple variant as the rate at which coronavirus was spreading has declined and corona guidelines are being properly implemented.
