Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Monday said the day is not far when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will name India after himself.
Speaking at a rally here on the occasion of International Women's Day, Ms Banerjee said, “The Prime Minister has named a stadium after him. He has put his photographs on Covid-19 vaccination certificates. He is making ISRO send his picture to space. A day will come when the country will be named after him.”
Accusing Prime Minister of resorting to “lies and falsehood”, the TMC supremo said that he has now started to put his photo on Covid-19 vaccination card as if it was “Modi vaccine”.
She said, “The Prime Minister is lecturing us on women’s safety. If women were not safe in Bengal, they would not be able to move around freely at night.”
The TMC supremo said, “They (BJP) keep saying that they will capture Bengal. They should worry about Delhi first and then think of Bengal.”
Asserting that she will return to power for the third consecutive time in Bengal, Ms Banerjee said, "The fight is between me and the BJP in all 294 seats."
They (BJP leaders) will come to Bengal only during elections and spread canards and lies. He is lecturing us on women’s safety. What is the situation of women in BJP-ruled states? What is the situation in Modi’s favourite Gujarat?” Ms Banerjee questioned.
The TMC supremo’s rally began in College Square area in central Kolkata and concluded near Dorina crossing, five kilometres away. Senior party leaders Chandrima Bhattacharyaa and Mala Roy joined the march.
New Trinamool recruits actors June Maliah, Saayoni Ghosh and Sayantika Banerjee were also seen taking part in the rally.(UNI)
