15-month-old undergoes rare surgery for Black fungus in Andhra’s Kakinada

Kakinada: The 15-month-old boy Janaki Nandan on whom a rare surgery was performed for treatment of the dreaded Black fungus (Mucar Mycosis) has been discharged from the Government general hospital here on Tuesday.
Attributing the entire credit to the team of specialist doctors in GGH for the speedy recovery of the child, Hospital Covid Special Nodal officer Surya Praveen Chand told media persons that performing such a critical surgery for removal of black fungus was first of its kind in the country.
He has complimented the GGH superintendent Dr Ravula Mahalakshmi, chiefs of Anesthesia, Pediatrics and ENT besides the paramedical staff for the successful surgery.
He said at present as many as 128 patients were receiving treatment for black fungus in the GGH and there was no shortage of any medicines for their treatment. He said so far 64 patients were discharged after recovery from Black fungus.
Later the parents of the child Anisetti Janaki Nandan hailing from Penugonda village in West Godavari district have honoured the GGH superintendent Dr Mahalakshmi and other doctors for saving their child. (UNI)
