New Delhi: Delhi High Court today questioned Delhi Police over the delay in filing the status report behind the death of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has filed a fresh application in the Delhi High Court and sought that a charge sheet to be filed within 45 days by the Delhi Police. Mr Swamy has sought a court-monitored CBI led special investigation (SIT) probe into Pushkar’s death. Tharoor’s step son Shiv Menon submitted in the court that it was not a public interest litigation but a publicity interest litigation.

Delhi High Court Division Bench Justices G S Sistani and Chander Shekhar after hearing the plea of Menon has expressed concern over the failure of the police to file a charge sheet in the case even after three and a half years. The court has said that the police had collected evidence in the matter in February 2015 but has not yet got the final result of the electronic evidences they have seized in the matter including that of the close friends of Tharoor and Pushkar.

High Court Justices G S Sistani and Chander Shekhar today after hearing the matter said “Here is somebody who passed away back in 2014 and you (police) initially said it was a suicide but later it turned out to be a homicide”. After hearing the petition the court adjourned it for further hearing on August, 30. (UNI)
