Four dead, 8 injured as landslides hit Ratle power project in Kishtwar

Jammu: Atleast four people were killed and eight suffered injuries on Saturday in a landslide that hit mega power project site in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.Police said that four persons including a cop were killed and eight sustained injuries following landslide incident at Drabshalla-Ratle hydroelectric project on Saturday evening.
"Police team and locals immediately rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation," said police.They added that four of the injured were rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital Doda and aa many were admitted to Thathri Sub-District Hospital.
Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep anguish over the mishap and said that the district administration has been directed to provide all the necessary assistance.”
“Deeply anguished by mishap at Drabshalla- Ratle hydroelectric project. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. Prayers for early recovery of injured,” he said in a tweet, adding, “ Army, SDRF & police are carrying out rescue operations. Dist Admin directed to provide all necessary assistance.
However, Union Minister and Member Parliament from Kathua-Udhampur-Doda constituency Dr Jitendra Singh tweeted, "spoke to DC #Kishtwar, Dr Devansh Yadav on receiving the report of a fatal landslide at the site of the under construction Ratle Power Project. The JCB driver unfortunately died on the spot."
