WATCH - Blast in vegetable cart in Jammu's Udhampur kills one, injures 13

Jammu: One person was killed and 13 injured in a mysterious blast on a vegetable cart on Wednesday afternoon at Slathia Chowk in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, who is also Member Parliament from Kathua-Udhampur Constituency tweeted, "blast explosion around “Rehri” near Tehsildar office at #Udhampur." "One life lost, 13 injured being moved to hospital. I am in touch with DC Indu Chib on a minute to minute basis. Exact cause and origin of the blast being worked out. Too early to draw any definite conclusion," he tweeted.

Earlier, speaking to media, Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, Vinod Kumar said that some injuries have been reported in the mysterious explosion.

"Initially, the nature of blast is not known but the FSL team with other agencies are on the job," said the SSP.

He said, "some persons are injured in the blast. The sound of explosion was heard 100 metres from the site of incident."

"We have cordoned the area and started the investigation," said the top cop. (UNI)
