Madhya Pradesh: Armed robbers shot man, loot jewellery from wife in Morena

Morena: Bike-borne miscreants shot and injured a man and snatched gold and silver ornaments worth approximately Rs 2 lakh from his wife on Saturday night in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh, police said.

According to police sources, Ravikant Shakhbar and his wife Poonam were returning to their village Kumharpura from Rajakheda on their motorcycle. As they reached near village Ushed under Mahua police station area, six robbers on three motorcycles intercepted them. One of the robbers shot Ravikant with a country-made pistol and snatched the jewellery from his wife before fleeing the scene.

The injured man was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The victim couple alleged that the robbers had been tailing them from Pinahat in Uttar Pradesh and pounced on them as soon as they crossed the Chambal Ushedaghat bridge.

The police have registered a case and launched a hunt for the culprits.
