Maharashtra rains: 35 peoples lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Marathwada

Aurangabad: At least 35 people as well as 414 domestic animals lost their lives in rain-related incidents between June 1 and July 17 in eight districts in Marathwada region of Maharashtra due to incessant rainfall, officials said here on Sunday.
The official press statement stated that, of the 35 peoples who were lost their lives, most were either caused by lightning or people were washed away in flood waters.
The maximum number of 11 deaths were reported from Nanded district, followed by nine deaths in Aurangabad district, 7 in Jalna district, 4 in Latur, 2 in Beed district and one each in Parbhani and Osmanabad districts.
Out of 35 deaths, in 28 cases compensation of Rs 4 lacs were provided to the next of kin of victims, they further stated.
During the same period total 414 animals including 296 domestic animals small and big, were also killed in the region and 706 houses were also damaged by the rains across the region, it added. (UNI)
