Bhopal: Even as the Madhya Pradesh Assembly's Leader of the Opposition and erstwhile chief minister Kamal Nath's remark regarding the House has stirred up a veritable hornets' nest, Speaker Girish Gautam minced no words on Tuesday when he said that if any member considers Vidhan Sabha proceedings as “nonsense” then he or she should forthwith tender resignation irrespective of rank.

“I am in receipt of a communication in this regard from state BJP President Vishnu Datt Sharma and have taken cognisance of the same. In addition, I watched in media that segment of Mr Kamal Nath's interview in which he says, 'Must I attend the Assembly for lending a patient ear to the BJP's nonsense?',” Mr Gautam told UNI.

Ruling BJP legislators will submit a breach of privilege notice against Congress bigwig Kamal Nath.

"It is painful. Mr Kamal Nath served as Union minister and held the Parliamentary Affairs portfolio besides others. If he says that Vidhan Sabha proceedings are nonsense what can be more perturbing? It constitutes an insult to democracy. Mr Kamal Nath derives exhilaration from doing so and describes great India as 'infamous'. Over the past month, he went on no less than four occasions to party President Sonia Gandhi's threshold."

"He did not attend the House for an average of four hours during the last session. Since he assumed the mantle of Leader of the Opposition, he was not present in the Assembly for even a total 24 hours in as many months, state Home Minister and government spokesman Narottam Mishra told the press here.
