Chandigarh: Ahead of Punjab Assembly elections, Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim was granted furlough for three weeks on Monday, said officials.
Dera chief Ram Rahim is currently lodged in Sunaria jail of Rohtak district for raping two of his disciples.
A jail official said Ram Rahim has been granted furlough from February 7 to 20. He would not be allowed to meet anyone except his family members.
"We will hand him over to Gurugram police by evening," he said.
Earlier, Ram Rahim had been given emergency paroles, from sunrise to sunset, to meet his ailing mother but he has been granted furlough this time.
Dera chief has been asked to stay at his farmhouse in Gurugram and not allowed to visit Sirsa. (UNI)
