Tamil Nadu: Trichy SSI murdered while trying to apprehend goat thieves; three, including 2 schools boys arrested

Tiruchirapalli: Police on Monday arrested three persons, including two juveniles in connection with the brutal murder of a Special Sub Inspector of Police (SSI) S.Boominathan.
A police press release said here that one of the accused has been identified as P.Manikandan (19) of Thogur village in Thanjavur district, while the two others were school students aged 9 and 14 of Pudukottai district.
The trio was nabbed near Sivaganga and interrogation with the accused was going on.
The SSI, attached to Navalpattu police station in Tiruchirapalli district was hacked to death with a machete, when he caught the trio, who were fleeing on a motorcycle after stealing a goat at Pallathupatti village on the Tiruchirapalli-Pudukottai national highway on Sunday morning.
Four special teams formed to nab the culprits, arrested them within 24 hours of the crime.
Chief Minister M.K.Stalin condoled the murder of the police officer and announced Rs one crore solatium and a government job to the bereaved family. (UNI)
