Train services hit as goods train derails at Korei station in Odisha,Two killed

Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Monday cancelled eight trains, partially cancelled five others and diverted several long distance trains following the derailment of a Goods train at Korei station at 6: 45 hours.

At least two persons of a family were killed and some others were injured when eight bogies of a goods train derailed at Korei station in Jajpur district. The Korei station building has also been damaged in the accident.

The railway authority has announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the next kin of the accident victims while Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced Rs. 2 lakh each to the next kin of those killed in the accident.

Union Railway Minister Aswani Vaishnaw has expressed his deep grief at the loss of life in the accident and announced Rs. 5 lakh to the next kin of those killed in the mishap, Rs.1 lakh to the seriously injured and Rs.25,000 to minor injured.

The General Manager of East Coast Railway with other principal heads of departments have rushed to the accident site to monitor early restoration of train services and relief works.The accident has blocked both the tracks affecting the movement of the trains on the East Coast Railway division.

East Coast Railway sources said 12073 Howrah-Bhubaneswar Jan Shatabdi Express,12277 Howrah-Puri Shatabdi Express,12821 Shalimar-Puri Express,12822 Puri-Shalimar Express,18045 Shalimar-Hyderabad Express,08454/08453 Cuttack-Bhadrak-Cuttack Passenger Special 08441/08442 Bhbuaneswar-Brahmapur-Bhubaneswar Passenger Special 08412 Bhubaneswar- Balasore Passenger Special have been cancelled due to the accident.

ECoR sources said The 12074 Bhubaneswar-Howrah Janshatabdi Express will run upto Jajpur and remain cancelled between Jajpur and Howrah.12278 Puri-Howrah Shatabdi Express will run upto Jajpur and remain cancelled between Jajpur and Howrah.

08411 Balasore-Bhubaneswar Passenger Special will run upto Kenduapada and remain cancelled between kendupada and Bhubaneswar.12891 Bangiriposi-Bhubaneswar Express will run upto Bhadrak and remain cancelled between Bhadrak and Bhubaneswar.

18021 Kharagpur-Khurda Express will run upto Bhadrak and remain cancelled between Bhadrak and Bhubaneswar.The railway authority diverted the 18046 Hyderabad-Shalimar East Coast Express via Jakhpura-Jaroli-Tata.

18477 Puri-Rishikesh Kalinga Utkal Express via Angul-Sambalpur city-Jharsuguda,22852 Bangalore-Santragachi Express via Jakhpura-Jaroli-Tata,22641 Trivendrum-Shalimar Express via Jakhpura-Jaroli-Tata.

The 12704 Secunderabad-Howrah Falaknuma express will be diverted via Angul-Sambalpur city-Jharsuguda,20890 Tirupati-Howrah Express will be diverted via Angul-Sambalpur city-Jharsuguda,12246 Bangalore-Howrah Duronto Express will be diverted via Angul-Sambalpur city-Jharsuguda.

The 12864 Bangalore-Howrah Express will be diverted via Jakhpura-Jaroli-Tata. 22305 Bangalore-Jasidih Express will be diverted via Jakhpura-Jaroli-Tata.22808 Chennai-Santragachi Express will be diverted via Jakhpura-Jaroli-Tata,22823 Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express will be diverted via Jakhpura-Jaroli-Tata and 12815 Puri-Anand Vihar Nandan Kanan Express will diverted via Jakhpura-Jaroli-Tata.

The railway authority has announced emergency help lines at Korei station and Bhubanewswar station.The Korei station helplines numbers are 8455887864, 8455887862 and Bhubaneswar station is 0674-2534027.(UNI)

Naveen announces ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to next kin killed in Goods train derailment


Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief at the loss of life in the train accident at Korei station on Monday morning.Patnaik conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved families and announced ex gratia of Rs two lakh each to the next of the kin of the victims.

The Chief minister directed the administration to expedite rescue operations and provide adequate treatment for the injured persons .He asked the Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Pramilla Mallick to visit the spot and take stock of the situation.

Preliminary report said at least two persons were killed and many others injured when eight bogies of a goods train derailed at Korei station in Odisha’s Jajpur district at 6.45 AM of Monday.The station building of Korei station has been damaged in the accident.(UNI)
