Twice married POCSO case accused awarded jail term till death for raping, impregnating minor girl

Pudukottai: A Mahila Court here on Monday convicted and sentenced a POCSO case accused, who was married twice, to life term till natural death for raping a minor girl and impregnating her two years ago.
Delivering the verdict, Justice R Sathya said convicted the accused Rajkumar, hailing from this district, had to undergo jail till his natural death.
The Judge also held that the prosecution has proved the case beyond any reasonable doubt and imposed fines on him.
The girl now has an one-year-old child.
The prosecution case was that the accused, had on March 11, 2020, sexually assaulted the class XI student after administering soft drinks laced with sedatives.
When the victim became pregnant, he had intimidated her to abort the foetus. But, the girl refused and lodged a complaint following which the Keeranur All Women Police station booked Rajkumar under the POCSO Act and arrested him.
Though, the Tamil Nadu government has already announced a compensation of Rs four lakh to the girl, the court directed the government to provide an additional assistance of Rs 1.50 lakh to her. (UNI)
