A 20-year-old woman has been arrested for killing her mother in Maharashtra's Raigad district, police said. The deceased had seen her daughter in a compromising position with her lover at their home.
The incident occurred under Khalapur police station's juridiction at Parkhande Ahilyanagar village on September 10, when 42-year-old Sangeeta Zore saw her daughter Bharati in a compromising position with her lover Santosh at their home. Bharati allegedly strangled her mother to death with help of her lover to keep her relationship secret.
The duo then attempted to stage the murder as a suicide by hanging Sangeeta's body with a saree on the terrace. But the accused's sister, who had been a witness to the murder incident, informed the police and relatives, police said.
In another incident that occurred in Panvel city on September 13, accused daughter Pranita Naik gave a contract to two men -- identified as Vivek Patil and Nishant Pande -- to kill her mother Priya Naik for Rs 10 lakh, as her mother had set restrictions on Pranita from using mobile phone.
Hence, Pranita took an extreme step and strangled her mother Priya with a nylon rope with the help of two men.
When asked about her mother by their relatives, Pranita herself confessed the crime before the police.
