Active covid cases stagnant at 14k mark for 2 days on the trot

New Delhi: India on Monday recorded 14,199 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, pushing the country caseload to 1,10,05,850, while the death toll soared to 1,56,385 with 83 more fatalities.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the active cases rose by 4421 to stand at 1,50,055. It is now 1.32 per cent of the total caseload.
 
The past 24 hours saw 9,695 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 1,06,99,410, which is 97.25 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.42 per cent.

It is to be noted that  India recorded 14,264 COVID-19 cases and 90 more deaths from the virus on Sunday. It is second straight day when active cases of Novel coronavirus has been stagnant on 14 thousand. Earlier a day before yesterday (Saturday) the active cases were a whisher short of 14 thousand mark as the country registered 13,993 new covid cases. 

The surge in the active cases has been a worrying sign despite the nationwide vaccine drive being carried out in the country successfully. Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh saw increase in daily new infections of novel coronavirus as per the Union Health Ministry.(UNI)
