Chandigarh: In a shocking incident, two young women were abducted in broad daylight from Gaushala Road near Janakpuri in Karnal, Haryana, this afternoon.
The perpetrators, arrived in a black car, forcibly dragged women into the vehicle and fled the scene, leaving residents in disbelief.
Eyewitnesses reported that three men were involved in the crime. Two of them stepped out of the car, grabbed women standing outside a house, and assaulted them when they resisted.
The assailants reportedly choked and slapped the victims before dragging them into the car. When locals attempted to intervene, they were also attacked by the kidnappers.
The mother of one of the victims, identified as Anjali, alleged that her daughter was lured outside under the pretext of inspecting a house. She stated that they were unfamiliar with the second woman abducted alongside her daughter.
Police arrived at the scene approximately 20 minutes after receiving the report and immediately set up roadblocks across the area to apprehend the suspects.
Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) in-charge Vijay Pal confirmed the kidnapping and said three men were involved. The motive behind the abduction remains unclear, and an investigation is underway.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from cameras installed outside several homes in the vicinity to identify the culprits and track the vehicle.
