Money laundering case: Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik arrested, says "won't bow down"

Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday arrested Maharashtra Minority Minister and NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik in connection with money laundering and land deal cases.
ED officials confirmed that he was arrested this afternoon, after interrogation for eight hours since this morning.
Following his arrest, Malik tweeted "Ladenge, Jitenge and Sab Exposed Karenge".
He was seen waving off to his party workers who had gathered outside ED office.
After his arrest, Malik was taken to JJ Hospital for medical examination and then he was rushed to a special sessions court for remand.
Against the backdrop of Malik's arrest, the NCP has called a meeting of its top leaders in south Mumbai to discuss the way forward.
Earlier, at 5 am, ED officials reached his residence with a summon and asked him to accompany them. He reached the ED office at around 7.45 am.
Malik was issued summons pertaining to the purchase of land by his son in 2005 from one of the accused in 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case, sources said.
His interrogation is underway. The ED has also interrogated several members of the Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar gang in a money laundering case.
The probe agency has taken into custody of Dawood's younger brother Iqbal Kaskar from Thane prison. (Inputs from UNI)
