Shillong:The political upheaval in Manipur has apparently subsided for now with the National People's Party (NPP), all the four ministers of which had tendered resignation from the N Biren Singh government having decided to join ranks once again.
"A positive meeting took place between @amitshah and @himantabiswa and the NPP delegation and we have decided to continue to work together in the interest of people of Manipur," Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma tweeted from New Delhi Wednesday night.

Sangma, who is also national president of the NPP, flew to New Delhi on Wednesday morning along with his four party legislators from Manipur and Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to sort out the political differences in the BJP-led government in Manipur.

"A NPP delegation led by @SangmaConrad and Dy Chief Minister of Manipur Sri Y Joy Kumar Singh met Honble Home minister Sri @AmitShah ji today in New Delhi. Both @BJP4India and NPP will continue to work together for the development of Manipur," Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who too is in Delhi, tweeted.

On June 17, the N Biren-led government was reduced to a minority after four NPP cabinet ministers led by Deputy Chief Minister Yumman Joy Kumar Singh, lone Trinamool Congress MLA, and an Independent member withdrawn support and support the opposition Congress to form an alternative government.

Three BJP legislators too quit as members of the Manipur Assembly and joined the Congress.
