Patna: RJD boycotting the inaugural function of the new parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, courted controversy and drew flak from several corners for allegedly comparing the function with coffin.

RJD posted a photo of coffin with a photo of the newly constructed building of parliament and asked "What it is". When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was inaugurating the new parliament building, this kind of tweet by RJD drew flak from several corners including BJP and others.

RJD is among more than 20 political parties across the country including Congress, who have boycotted the inaugural function of the new parliament building, demanding that President should have been invited to inaugurate it. BJP and the Centre had rejected the demand, saying there is nothing wrong in inauguration of the new parliament building by Prime Minister Modi.

RJD spokesman and former party MLA Shakti Yadav said that President was the right person to inaugurate the new parliament building. Insistence to inaugurate was a reflection of inflated ego of Prime Minister Modi and his attitude for self glorification, he added.

Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said that posting a photo of coffin with the new parliament building on Twitter account by RJD was the most heinous act of the party. It reflected dirty mindset of RJD, he remarked.

BJP leader demanded lodging of a sedition case against RJD for its highly irresponsible and derogatory behaviour. Several intellectuals had also condemned the act of RJD.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said there was no need for the construction of new parliament building. It was an attempt of the Narendra Modi government to change the history of the nation, he had alleged. (UNI)
