Mumbai: A 24-year-old young boy strangled to death his 35-year-old girlfriend who was a manager of a private bank while suspecting that she was having an affair with another man, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in a hotel room in neighbouring new Mumbai city where both of them had occupied it for a short term.
Based on a tip-off, the Mumbai Police nabbed the accused, Shoeb Sheikh (24), from his house in suburban Saki Naka in the early hours of the day before he could flee to his hometown in Uttar Pradesh, an official said.
On interrogation, the accused revealed that he had checked into a hotel in Navi Mumbai with his girlfriend Amy alias Amit Ravindra Kaur (35) on Monday, he said.
Sheikh suspected that Kaur was having an affair with another man and allegedly strangled her to death in a fit of rage, the official added.
