4 women die after undergoing family planning operation in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Four women died after undergoing family planning operation at Ibrahimpatnam here.

As many as 34 women underwent a family planning operation at Ibrahimpatnam Government hospital in Rangareddy district on Thursday last.

Of them 4 women--Mamatha (32) of Narsaipalli in Madugula Mandal, M Mounika of Rajiv Nagar Thanda, Sushma (28) of Lingampalli in Munchala Mandal and Lavanya of Seetharampet in Ibrahimpatnam Mandal were admitted in different private hospitals due to complications after the surgery like vomiting, low blood pressure and among others.

Of them Mamata died on Sunday evening, Sushma and Lavanaya died on Monday morning and evening, while Mounika died on Tuesday morning.

Talking to the media here, Telangana Health Director Dr G Srinivas Rao said that family planning operations were performed on 34 women by experienced expert doctors. Unfortunately, it is very sad that four women died.

He said that such incidents never happened after the formation of Telangana state.

Dr Rao said that the state government is taking this incident very seriously and is investigating.

The Health Director said that the investigation was underway in all aspects to find out the exact reason behind the death of the four women.

Dr Rao said "We are monitoring the health condition of the remaining 30 people by visiting their homes". Seven out of 30 people were shifted to a corporate hospital. Two more women were shifted to Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) here.

He said that Rs 5 lakh compensation and double bedroom houses would be given to the families of the deceased.

It has been decided to provide admissions to their children in Government Residential Schools, he added. (UNI)
