The suicide story of this old couple who left 2 Lakh rs for funeral will leave you in tears

Chennai: In a heart-rending incident, an elderly couple committed suicide at their residence in suburban Iyyappanthangal on Monday night and has left behind a cheque for Rs two lakh for their last rites. Police said the couple was allegedly distressed about the lives of their children-- a son and daughter--who have had a failed marriage. The deceased were identified as Manoharan (66), a retired technical officer in a company at Avadi Tank Factory.
His wife, Jeeva (68), retired as an officer in Accountants General Office in the city.The couple has left behind a suicide note, along with a cheque for Rs two lakh for their son to perform their last rites. A fire broke out in the house and the neighbours informed the fire and rescue services personnel, who rushed to the spot.
While, Manoharan doused himself with kerosene and set himself ablaze, Jeeva consumed poison and died of suffocation due to smoke. Both the bodies were sent to Kilpauk Medical College for post-mortem. (UNI)
