In a tragic incident, an 8-year-old girl passed away at a church in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district after her family chose religious intervention over medical treatment for a brain tumor.
Bhavyasree, the daughter of Lakshmaiah and Lakshmi from Balaji Raopet Dalit Colony in Kaluvai Mandal, was diagnosed with a brain tumour and doctors had recommended immediate surgery.
Doctors had also recommended transferring her to a higher medical centre in either Hyderabad or Chennai. Unable to afford the medical expenses, the family turned to Adurupalli church when some of the relatives suggested miraculous healing by pastor.
The family with Bhavyasree stayed there for around 40 days, fasting and praying in the church for her healing. Despite the child’s deteriorating condition, the family remained hopeful and continued their prayer. Church authorities reportedly did not intervene to suggest medical help, instead reinforcing their belief that divine grace would restore her health.
On the night of December 9, Bhavyashree’s condition worsened, and she tragically passed away inside the church.
